I’m completely obsessed with Tomb Raider right now, and am seeing adventure everywhere: in lost iPhones and neanderthal skulls. The spirit of adventure is definitely a theme in the first edition of Dog Eared, my regular link roundup.
✚ When Matt Stopera’s iPhone was stolen in New York he had no idea would lead him on the surreal adventure of a lifetime. A year later, strange photos started showing up in his new iPhone’s photo stream which made him an overnight celebrity and best friend in China. The story is so bizarre and heartwarming it’s no surprise it’s being made into a documentary.
✚ I love these Desert Dwellers character designs and their bikes by The 10s. The pastel colours are absolutely cheerful.
✚ Need some spring cleaning tips or organizing inspiration for your workspace? Four REDBOOK staffers got desk makeovers by Justin Klosky which will have your brain percolating.
✚ This neanderthal skeleton encrusted in calcite looks like something Lara Croft would encounter in a Tomb Raider story. His name is Altamura man, and he may yield the oldest neanderthal DNA ever found.
✚ Season 5 of Game of Thrones starts today! To tide you over between episodes have a look at some of the women of Game of Thrones in various fashion spreads: Maisie William in Dazed, Emilia Clarke in Vogue UK, and Sophie Turner in Interview Magazine Germany
✚ The 2013 redesign of Lara Croft is more than I could have ever hoped for, and it seems a lot of cosplayers feel the same way. There’s even a whole Etsy shop dedicated to Tomb Raider cosplay pieces.
✚ I’ve also been pouring over Game Informer’s Rise Of The Tomb Raider coverage from last month, obsessing over little tidbits like how a crafting system will be involved in improving Lara’s gear and creating medicines. If they do an Xbox One bundle with this game I’ll finally upgrade.
